An Evening with Cariad Lloyd
When actor and comedian Cariad Lloyd lost her father to cancer at the age of fifteen, people didn’t talk about death. Death was still a taboo and grief even more so.
Cariad didn’t know how to process it; it took her years to be able to speak about it and eventually try to make sense of her own grief. In 2016, she created the Griefcast, her award-winning podcast, in which she talks to celebrities about their experiences of grief – helping break that taboo one conversation at a time. After nearly 200 episodes, 10 series and millions of downloads, it became clear not only were these chats wanted, they were needed – to help us all face the most significant event of our lives: the end.
In conversation for this exclusive live event to celebrate the publication of her new book You Are Not Alone, Cariad will reflect on her own grief and the grief of others she has spoken to over the years, from comedians, writers, actors and producers to end of life doulas, grief psychotherapists and palliative care consultants. From funeral thoughts, therapy, coping with anniversaries, bad friends, and good friends, to birthdays, weddings, missing them, not missing them – this is grief in all its sad, surprising, awkward, tender and sometimes funny forms.
Thought-provoking, comforting and funny in equal measure, don’t miss the opportunity to spend an evening with Cariad as she debunks everything we thought we knew about grief. This event promises to be a roadmap for all of us: for anybody grieving, for anybody who would like to help somebody through their grief, or for those who just want to understand life a little better.
Cariad will be interviewed by the wonderful Fi Glover.
