Once described as ‘a human geographer’, Nova Reid credits her curious nature and fascination with human behaviour for inspiring her transformative work in anti-racism and a curator of courageous conversations. Using her background in mental wellbeing, Nova encourages meaningful change from the inside out using knowledge, self-interrogation and a lot of courage. Through her podcast, Conversations with Nova Reid, and book, The Good Ally, Nova encourages us to become less racist and a lot more human.
For this unique virtual event, Nova will be joined by broadcaster and journalist Marverine Cole in a wide-ranging discussion that will touch on Nova’s pioneering work, overcoming shame and collective healing, the erasure of Black women throughout history, and why self-love is a revolutionary act. It’s a conversation not to be missed.
“Nova’s book for me is a mental health manual for dealing with the everyday issues that arise when navigating a system that seeks to deny the existence of structural racism. She not only gives the reader detailed examples of the things that can and do arise, she also expertly offers solutions that help deal with them.” David Harewood
“A beautiful, bold and no-BS guide to getting uncomfortable, digging deep and being fully human. It will be the best and hardest work you ever do.” Emma Gannon
