An Audience With Dame Tracey Emin
Join Dame Tracey Emin DBE RA for a radical night of artistry to celebrate the release of Tracey Emin Paintings published with Phaidon Press, the first monograph dedicated to Tracey’s emotive paintings that showcases her soulful work like never before.
Live on stage with novelist, writer, art critic and editor Jennifer Higgie, Tracey will discuss the resilience required to claim and defend her title as an artist: a title earned by rejecting the confines of the art market and always speaking from a place of creative honesty and truth. From leaving school at 13 and moving to London at 15, to representing Great Britain at the Venice Biennale in 2007 and being elected a Royal Academician that same year, Tracey’s story is one of unyielding determination and passion.
Now one of the most celebrated artists in the world, Tracey will delve into her artistic practice and her focus on painting in recent years. She will share how, inspired by artists Egon Schiele and Edvard Munch, she has crafted her provocative, confrontational and vulnerable works that are at once deeply personal and universal.
Reflecting Tracey’s own nature, this will be a night of brutal honesty, emotional exploration, and intense devotion to art and the creative process. Join Tracey as she unravels the inner worlds of her paintings and, by extension, herself.
